Visit by the OECD/NEA to the Ministry of the Environment, Japan and Fukushima Environmental Restoration Sites

Ms. Rebecca Tadesse, Head of the Division of Radioactive Waste Management and Decommissioning of the OECD/NEA visited the Ministry of the Environment, Japan (MOEJ) on Tuesday, June 4. The MOEJ explained its initiatives for the Fukushima environmental restoration project, including off-site decontamination. Ms. Rebecca Tadesse explained measures taken by the OECD/NEA, for support of decommissioning of nuclear facilities in member states, followed by exchange of views.
Also, the site visit to the Interim Storage Facility and Recycling Demonstration Project Area in Nagadoro District, Iitate Village was conducted on Thursday, June 6, to see firsthand and deepen the understanding of the current situation in Fukushima.
