IAEA held the 3rd Experts Meeting

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) held the 3rd Experts Meeting on “Volume Reduction and Recycling of Removed Soil” from February 5th (Mon.) to 9th (Fri.).

The objective of this Experts Meeting is to share with the international community the knowledge and experience of initiatives taken by the Ministry of the Environment, Japan (MOEJ) for the managed recycling and final disposal of removed soil, and to obtain international evaluation and advice from technical and social perspectives, thereby fostering public understanding.

At the third meeting, IAEA Experts and the MOEJ discussed the concepts of safety and standards for the managed recycling and final disposal of removed soil, approach for communication with residents etc. and international information dissemination, and consistency with the IAEA Safety Standards, etc.

The final report of the Experts Meeting will created by the IAEA in around summer of this year, and will be submitted to the MOEJ.
